About Fernstudium Klartext
The distance learning market is full of advertising. This site is deliberately the opposite: independent, ad-free orientation that genuinely helps you before you enrol. Here is who is behind it and the principles we work by.
Why this site exists
Anyone interested in a distance degree runs into advertising first: glossy brochures, low monthly rates, plenty of promises. What is missing is a neutral place that sorts out the terms and asks the uncomfortable questions.
Fernstudium Klartext is a pure information site. We do not sell study places, we do not broker universities for commission, and we do not take money to make a provider look better. The goal is simple: to give you the orientation that matters before you enrol, so you make a decision that fits you and not the next campaign.
The content covers the big questions: access with and without a school leaving diploma, the real costs beyond the monthly rate, recognition in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, balancing study with work, and how to tell a reputable provider from a dubious one. All in plain language, without marketing phrases.
Our editorial principles
So you can judge how the content comes about, we make the rules we write by transparent.
-
Independent and ad-free
No provider can buy a better rating here. There are no paid rankings and no ad banners. When we give an assessment, it is our own, not a sponsor's.
-
No invented figures
Where costs, duration or funding amounts vary widely by provider and country, we give ranges and orders of magnitude instead of hard numbers that would be wrong tomorrow. Honestly approximate beats precisely wrong.
-
Consumer protection first
We write from the perspective of prospective students, not providers. That means naming red flags clearly, making hidden costs visible and encouraging you to ask questions before you sign.
-
Orientation, not legal advice
The content helps you understand and compare. The binding decisions always rest with the universities and the competent authorities. For recognition, tax or contract questions in your case, the official body remains authoritative.
Who is behind Fernstudium Klartext
Transparency belongs to a site that wants to give orientation. So we say openly who is responsible for the content and how it connects to personal consulting.
The publisher is Ritter Bildungs- und Digitalberatung, based in Balgach, Switzerland. The same company also runs the consulting project Studienflüsterer and the free Studienflüsterer Academy. Fernstudium Klartext is the ad-free information part of it: here it is about knowledge, not about selling.
This closeness is intentional and disclosed. The editorial content stays independent of any single provider. If you want personal consulting after reading, you will find it at Studienflüsterer, which is how the offering is funded. The full publisher details are in the imprint.
From orientation to personal consulting
This site answers the big questions in general terms. Your specific case, with your prior credits and your goal, can only be assessed in a personal conversation. There are two ways to do that.
Free initial consultation
The Studienflüsterer looks at your situation: admission, credit transfer and suitable programmes, honestly and without obligation.
Book the consultationStudienflüsterer Academy
The most important basics as a free video course. A new lesson every day, at your own pace.
To the academyThe information on this page is general in nature and is meant as orientation. It does not replace an official credit transfer or recognition decision by the relevant university and is not legal advice. The universities and the responsible bodies decide: the ZAB in Germany, the BMBWF in Austria and the SBFI in Switzerland. Always check your specific case directly with the university before you enrol.
